  Investment & Technology Promotion



 

The UNIDO ITP component aims at building the capacity in industry institutions to create networks and strengthen the associations ability to promote MSMEs. ITP also makes investment and technology proposals for the MSMEs in India through joint ventures and partnerships.

The objective of this component is achieved through activities such as:

  • Strengthening the industry associations capacity to build and maintain the local and international trade and investment networks.

  • Helping the SME associations in networking with UNIDO’s international investment promotion offices. Building capacity in the target industry associations for collecting and managing the sub-contracting and partnership exchanges in the internationally accepted UNIDO format.

  • Encouraging target group building and upgrading promotion materials such as websites, brochures and directories for the target associations.

  • Enabling the SME associations to establish networks with associations abroad for receiving and processing the request for quotations that would bring additional business for the members (SPX).

  • Building capacity in the industry institutions for the promotion of international investments for forward and backward linkages, horizontal expansions, and for the identification and introduction of new technologies.

  • building capacity at the institutions to add a consultancy service on project proposal preparation and appraisal, with the specific focus on enabling the domestic target associations to establish networks with domestic and international private equity and venture capital players.

Highlights of ongoing activities:

  • Created two Sub-Contracting and Partnership Exchanges SPX. One for auto component companies in Chennai, Pune and NCR, and another for leather and footwear companies in Chennai. The ITP network has also trained the SPX engineers on the data collection, coding and data entry. 

  • Established three partnerships with business promotion institutions in the auto component, leather and footwear companies. Built networking capacity with the trade and investment agencies in India and abroad to foster and strengthen networks for the target groups. Facilitated the mission of delegations from different countries and B2B meetings for the target group through the associations. Coordinated meetings with associations from other countries.

  • Trained representatives of the BPIs from across the country on writing and evaluating project proposals through UNIDO’s proprietary software (COMFAR III and Company Project Proposal).

  • Networked with international and national associations for a study on the investment competitiveness of the Indian auto component sector among the international investor communities – Italian Venture Capital Association (AIFI).

  • Conducted and India investment opportunities seminar in Milan and a study on investment competitiveness of the Indian Auto component Sector in India – Indian Venture Capital Association (IVCA)


Company Project Profiling software [CPP]:

This software has been developed by Unido to structure the investment proposals. It is available for free for download by companies or preferably the associations to introduce their members to the joint venture partners.
This software requires a password "Unido".
